Harvesting: Harvest when tops of onion have turned brown or yellow, and have dropped to the side. Wait until about 85% of all onion tops have dropped before harvesting. It's best to harvest before heat of mid-day, using garden tine fork. Allow the onions to dry in the sun, protected from sunburn by placing hay, or other onion tops over them.
Red Creole Onion is best adapted to areas where the days have fewer hours of sunlight.
Since they need 10+ hours of sunlight, Red Creole Onion does very well in southern states with milder winter temps.
Plant during fall for summer harvest, or plant in early spring for summer harvest.
